I have been working on more options to improve care at Evolve. I had been asked about genetic testing options for medications (how the medications are metabolized by your body which is unique to each person) including folate.
Genesight is a company which completes the testing related to psychiatric medications and folate to help determine which medication would be better aligned with your own body. This can reduce the number of trials to find a medication of greater benefit to you and may help with dose adjustments.
Changing Lives
The collection can be completed in the office or at home. You just have to swab the inside of your cheek (after not eating or drinking for 15 minutes). Then, the swab is sent off to the lab. They then run this looking only at medications and not your full genetic profile.

I will get the results back in about 2 days, and we can discuss options for medications which may be more inline with your body.
Your cost would depend on the insurance you have but the company does work with you on this with any concerns related to cost. There are different programs and you may be able pay over months if needed depending on the cost to you. I can review the breakdown for this, or you are welcome to contact Genesight was well to discuss any concerns related to cost. We are all working to try to make this as affordable as possible for everyone who would benefit from this testing.
