Okay, if you know me, I LOVE this!!!
Go outside and what do you see?
People looking at their phone or some sort of device. I see this when people are out eating, driving, walking or just sitting outside. We do not as a whole connect with anything or anybody like our devices.

According to research, the typical American family has about five devices in their home. I looked around my own home—we have more! (Source).
So what can we do??
Put it all away – phones, laptops, computers, television, etc. – and just be!! Reconnect with friends or family. Take a walk. Read a book. Sing a song. The list goes on and on. The above website gives some information as well, but you know you and what you like or do not like to do.

The use of technology especially at night has had impact on children as well as adults. I will share the link below related to a children study and how using technology at night effected their sleep both in duration and quality. This study also shows a link related to increased weight (increased body mass index) with using this technology at night.
When we sleep, our body heals, retains what we have learned, and children grow. Human growth factor along with other hormones are released at night as part of our body’s hormone cycle, circadian rhythm. This can lead to depression, anxiety, weight gain and substance use. This is information related to how a disrupted circadian rhythm effect you/your body.
Disrupting this cycle can contribute to:
🔹 Depression
🔹 Anxiety
🔹 Substance Use Disorders
🔹 Bipolar Disorder
A disrupted sleep-wake cycle has serious consequences for mental health. Read more about it here.
Just as an FYI, there is changes being made to people’s anatomy due to this hunched over position for texting and being on electronics. This is concerning to me as we are changing our body with this.
This video is about what is occurring and how to work toward resolving this issue we are creating with technology. I truly am worried about the children and am constantly letting my children know this as well.
So remember, Just Unplug

Start with the Global Unplugging Day and then trying to add it in as much as able to your life. Take 1-2 hours before bed away from electronic to improve your sleep and improve your overall mental and physical health. Spend some time living your life and enjoying what is just outside!
Just to let you know there are various dates online for this. Some say the first Friday of March which would be the 7th and others say the following Saturday the 8th. To resolve this concerns, you could do as much as able for all the above! I know work and school requires more technology, but before and after Unplug!
